Practice Overview

Joe qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and worked within the family department of a well-known local Law Firm specialising in childcare, family, and financial disputes before moving to a specialist Legal 500 firm in Cardiff.

Joe moved to a Local Authority in 2012 where he continued to work in the childcare department. His role involved acting on behalf of Children's Services until 2017 when he transferred to the Bar to pursue his advocacy ambitions. 

Since being called to the bar, Joe has developed a family practice involving both financial and children matters. He has an outcome-based focus and understands the importance of meeting the client’s needs in ‘the real world’.

Joe is approachable and available to advise and discuss matters, both big and small, as a case progresses.

Joe is also a chair of the Football Association of Wales Disciplinary Appeals and Safeguarding Panels.

Notable and Reported cases

  • Family and Child Protection Law

    Joe has an extensive Family Law practice with a particular emphasis on Public Law. He frequently represents Local Authorities in care proceedings in The Family Court. Joe also has considerable experience of representing parents and the Children’s Guardian.

    Joe accepts instructions in a wide variety of other family court matters including private law cases.

  • Sports Law

    Joe offers specialist legal advice and representation to those involved in professional and amateur sports in all aspects of sports negotiation and litigation. 

    In 2017 he was appointed to the position of Chairman of the Football Association of Wales Disciplinary Appeals Panel.

  • Education & Qualification

    Joe was educated at Cardinal Newman RC Comprehensive School, Pontypridd before going on to read law at Cardiff University. He then undertook the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff Law School.

    Joe was called to the Bar in 2017.
