Practice Overview

Lewis Harrison has an expansive practice across the civil Jurisdiction.

Lewis has a busy court-based practice alongside a paperwork practice whereby he regularly advises on prospects of success and procedural matters, as well as drafting pleadings, defences, and other court documents.

Lewis’ civil practice is broad and involves appearances in cases across all tracks and in so doing has dealt with several different applications, CCMCs and trials. Lewis has also a member of the Attorney General’s Junior-Junior Scheme.

Lewis is a fluent Welsh speaker who is happy and open to accepting instructions in the Welsh language.

Away from court, Lewis has been a Welsh Rugby Union referee for several years which has seen him officiate in the Welsh Premiership, the United Rugby Championship and the Six Nations.

Notable and Reported cases

  • Wills, Trusts and Probate

    Lewis accepts instructions in respect of litigation surrounding Wills, Trusts, and Probate. He can be instructed to attend court and provide written advice in respect of all matters in this area.

  • Property

    Lewis has repeatedly appeared in court in respect of possession applications. His practice encompasses work under the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 as well as those that are outside its remit. Lewis has also advised in respect of prospective adverse possession claims, as well as disputes arising out of commercial leases.

    Lewis is happy to draft pleadings and provide written advice in respect of all types of property cases.

    Lewis has been instructed to advise and appear in the Land Registration Tribunal and in the County Court in respect of land disputes including Boundary Disputes, Rights of Way, Easements and Adverse Possession

     

  • Commercial Disputes

    Lewis’ commercial practice has included appearing in respect of Bankruptcy Petitions on behalf of creditors and several cases involving breach of contract and subsequent claims for damages.

    Lewis can provide written advice in respect commercial disputes and accepts instructions to draft pleadings.

  • Personal Injury

    Lewis has significant experience in dealing with personal injury cases on the Small Claims and Fast Track. Lewis’ practice encompasses RTAs and public liability cases, whereby he acts for both claimants and defendants.

     

  • Public Administrative Law

    Lewis has appeared on several occasions in the Immigration Tribunal in respect of Asylum Appeals and has been repeatedly successfully on behalf of his client’s seeking asylum in this country.

    Lewis has been instructed in judicial review applications, and has included drafting summary grounds of defence, as well as dealing with costs following a judicial review. 

    Lewis is a member of the Attorney General’s Junior-Junior Scheme and has accepted instructions from the Government Legal Department.

  • Court or Protection

    Lewis has recently begun to accept instructions in Court of Protection cases.

  • Education Law

    Lewis has previously acted as a clerk to a school admission appeals, whereby he provided legal advice to independent admission appeal panels.

  • ToLATA

    Lewis’  ToLATA practice includes providing written advice regarding prospects of success and procedural matters, in addition to court appearances.

  • Employment Law

    Lewis has a new Employment Practice which he is eager to develop. Thus far has undertaken work in respect of an unfair dismissal claim involving a whistle-blower.
