Practice Overview

Since joining Chambers in 2019, William has developed a busy criminal law practice. He regularly deals with matters ranging from serious violence, sexual offences and drug matters.

William always seeks to couple a pragmatic and adaptable working style with his approachable personality. He has managed to secure positive results in a range of serious cases, including in the Court of Appeal on multiple occasions.

Having grown up in Cardiff and attended Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, William is a fluent Welsh speaker. Outside of work he particularly enjoys golf and keeping fit.

  • R v Gauci and others

    6 handed murder trial before The Honourable Mr Justice Griffiths.

  • Operation Silver

    Class A drug conspiracy - Operation Silver was the largest enforcement activity in Gwen Police’s recent history.

  • R v X

    15 year-old charged with stranger rape in Cardiff

  • R v Y

    17 year old charged with riot (following the Ely riots of 2023)

  • R v McCann [2024]

    Appeal against sentence. Successfully argued sentence for matters of violence + public disorder were manifestly excessive (specifically the court’s application of the S.66 uplift). 

  • R v Baldwin [2023] EWCA Crim 1475

    Appeal against conviction before the Court of Appeal. Issues relating to proceeding in a D’s absence.

  • R v Francis [2022] EWCA Crim 1281

    Appeal against sentence. Successfully argued sentence for dwelling burglary was manifestly excessive. 

  • R v Jex and others [2021] EWCA Crim 1708

    COA provided guidance re the application of S.133 of the Magistrates Court Act 1980 re concurrent/consecutive sentences. WB led by Louis Mably KC.
