Dan Jones sucessfully prosecutes case of historic child sexual abuse

March 31 2025

Dan Jones has successfully concluded proceedings against Gary Hicks, who was charged with historic child sexual abuse arising from offences committed in the late 1980’s.

At the first trial last summer, the defendant was convicted of a number of offences but the jury could not agree verdicts on a count of rape. Following a retrial in February the defendant was convicted of that allegation and on 28 March 2025 he was sentenced to a total of 16 years’ imprisonment.

The defendant was represented throughout by privately instructed King’s Counsel. Dan appeared as junior counsel alone.
