It is with enormous sadness that on behalf of chambers I have to announce that Liz McGahey died on New Year’s Eve 2020.
Liz graduated from Cardiff with a first class honours degree in English. She converted to law and was called to the Bar in 1994. She undertook her pupillage in chambers and there never was any doubt that she would be made a tenant. She was a qualified mediator. Liz was a valued and respected member of chambers. She was a great lawyer and advocate. She was robust but always polite. Her work was concise, precise and thoughtful. Liz was a true friend, delightful to know and fun to be around. She was modest and kind. She gave her time to others and always had a sympathetic ear. We will miss her more than we can say. It was our privilege to have known her and to have worked with her.
However, as anyone who knew Liz would know, Liz’s greatest pride and achievement were her two daughters. Her love for them shone through all she did. We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to her family.
We have received enquiries from many already wishing to make a donation in her memory. If you wish to do so, her daughters have asked that any donation in her memory should be made to Marie Curie. Marie Curie enabled Liz to be cared for at home without a single night being spent in hospital.
A correspondence address for the family made be obtained by emailing clerks@30parkplace.co.uk
